Blues Music, Blues Attitude
When it come to music, blues seem so touch many of us in a way that other music does not. the exception to this would probably be the various folk music from the different cultures. Of course, the early blues was a folk music and it has evolved into a much more general music that people of many different cultures can enjoy.
Shortly after I discovered blues music I began to notice that whenever I was feeling down or was on my way home after a bad day at work, I could just listen to some blues and I would begin to feel better. If I was listen to more modern, electric blues I really enjoyed the various rhythms and sometime the words. If I was listening to the older style, acoustic blues the words were more important along with the emotions conveyed by the various voicing mechanisms. The rhythm here was of secondary mportance but sometimes would reach right out of the tape player and grab me. So, in my case I work at developing the feelings of “Blues music, blues attitude”.
Now, I’ve been a guitar player since I was sixteen years old and that was in 1964. Anytime I listen to any type of music, the music with an emphasis on guitar is usually my favorite. I started learning to play blues harp {harmonica} after I became intereested in blues music. A lot of times there will be particular artists of any genre that I don’t care for. When I think about the reasons, I will realize that they don’t have an emphisis on guitar in their music. I will then re-analyze and look at their music from a different perspective and be able to enjoy it more. The same goes for blues music but after I fell in love with blues guitar, I started listening to blues piano. There are even some great blues fiddle and mandolin players.
