What’s your view on the influence of rag time, jazz, folk, gospel, and country music on Blues music?

I know it is a complicate question but I’m sure there are a few out there up to the task.

Country music more or less descended from Blues. Ragtime influenced Jazz, and Blues is a descendent of Jazz. Gospel was written in Blues form by several blues pickers, "Blind" Wille Johnson in particular.

Has anyone been to the Black and Blue Festival in Montreal?

My boyfriend and I (23 and 24yo) are traveling to Montreal this October to attend the Black and Blue Festival. Has anyone ever been to one and if so what was your experience like? We also have access to the leather and military balls if anyone has attended those in the past too. If you are planning on going this October, let me know and maybe we can meet up and tour the city a bit

The city of Montreal is extremely clean (and kept that way by an army of street sweeping machines that come out at night) with a very modern, easy-to-navigate subway system. Most residents speak English, to varying degrees, and are usually impressed if you know a few phrases in French as well. American currency can be exchanged for Canadian at any Western Union in the city, although you can also use an American credit card… be sure to check with your credit card company to make sure there aren’t any extra fees for converting currencies. As of 10 years ago, most shops closed at 6 or 6:30 pm, although this might have changed since then.

What do Blues artists sing about now vs. in the early blues days?

I know they used to sing about their experiences as slaves and financial issues and lost loves. but what did it change into? what do they sing about now?

Even in the early blues days, the blues topic was somewhat wider than you suggest. Differences of today would only be contemporary objects or philosophies.
Early: Hambones, Fish, Railroad, Sports, Drugs, Religion, and of course the opposite sex.
Today: Cellphones, Cars, Traffic Jams, News, TV Shows, and of course the same sex. (I hope not)/
