This is part of my music midterm, and I am having trouble forming an answer.

All three were born of the grassroots of America in a slow evolution into a distinct American style.
However, the only completely American form of music is jazz, which would include it’s precursor, ragtime.

It’s been a rough couple of weeks.  There have been lots of stressful things going on.  This morning, I was in a pretty bad mood as I was making an unnecessary 200 mile road trip. I put a Muddy Waters cd  in the player and in about 3 minutes I was starting to feel better.  In essence, I was getting back to my blues roots.  I played one blues cd after another and as I drove, my mood improved.  Now, I’m not saying I am in a wonderful mood this afternoon but the gloom and doom of this morning is gone.

Highlights of Piedmont Blues History

Piedmont blues also known as East Coast blues resulted from a blend of influences that included ragtime music, country string bands and traveling medicine shows. A composer named Scott Joplin published “The Maple Leaf Rag” around this time and it sold a million copies out of a population of close to seventy-five million. The integration of this style to the emerging blues style gave birth to the Piedmont blues.
